Kicking off National Travel and Tourism Week 2014 in Anaheim, CA
Who doesn’t love a little relief from the gray and rain? When you live in Oregon, you get a lot of that in the winter. I was so excited when I learned I was a winner in the Allegiant Air Blogger Contest this spring. The package included 3 nights in Anaheim for me and one person. So to kick off National Travel and Tourism Week (May 3–11, 2014), I took my son (our oldest child).
Here’s a summary of Day 1 of our trip. We had a blast (despite a little childhood illness that caught us by surprise). I can’t wait to go back.
Day 1: Friday, May 3
We drove to Eugene Airport to catch our Allegiant Air flight to LAX. When we landed at LAX, the driver from ExecuCar Transportation was waiting for us at baggage claim. Anytime I’ve been through LAX in the past, I’ve always had to get a rental car. Having a driver there to help us with our bags and navigate traffic was such a relief! It definitely made our arrival and transfer to the hotel so much smoother and more relaxing!
We arrived at the The Crowne Plaza Anaheim Resort and checked in. The hotel staff was wonderful. Cheerful, helpful, and accommodating. I love a warm welcome on a Friday night after a long day of travel.
Speaking of warm, my son spiked a fever while we were traveling. He looked and felt miserable. Instead of the fun evening at the Downtown Disney District and Anaheim GardenWalk we had planned, we opted for a quiet night in with rest and acetaminophen.
Kristin from the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau met me at the hotel to greet us and brief us on our planned activities. She also brought me a great bag with some fun items inside!
