Captain America: Civil War Movie Tickets

In case you’ve been living under a rock, the ultimate civil war opened in theatres this weekend. Captain America: Civil War is now playing in theatres everywhere. I saw the movie first at the World Premiere Red Carpet Event in LA last month with my daughter, but we watched it again as a family last night. We went into the movie as a house divided, but we are no longer divided. I knew where my allegiance was. If you haven’t seen the movie, it is the best Marvel movie yet, in my opinion, and I LOVE my Marvel movies. My son agrees. Two hours and 26 minutes of action and you won’t want  to miss even a second of it. So here’s my quick Captain America: Civil War review/summary post and 11 reasons why you need to see it this weekend and why Captain America: Civil War the best Marvel movie yet. So many feels!

***While this contains no real spoilers, there may be a few things that one could conceived as spoilers. That is NOT my intention.***

1, 2 Chris Evans’ left and right Biceps.

I’m not even kidding. There’s a scene with a helicopter that I’m certain is there just to show off his biceps. Well played, Marvel. Well played. Just thinking of the scene makes me giggle. There’s a Facebook quiz going around right now about which bicep you are. Honestly, I’d take either, but I got Right Bicep.

3 Chadwick Boseman

If you don’t know who he is, you will after this movie. He plays T’Challa/Black Panther and while he’s not young or new, this role will make him a household name. He’s talented, attractive, and I can’t wait to see him in Black Panther. He’s probably my new favorite actor.

4 Spidey!

We get our first real introduction to Spider-Man in this movie. Tom Holland plays Peter Parker and he’s everything I’d hoped he would be. Funny, young, humorous. He brings the perfect amount of vivacity and light to such a dark and difficult movie thematically. If Spider-Man is anything like the character we meet in Captain America: Civil War, I’m looking forward to it.

5 One-Liners

No one packs in the ultimate one-liners like a Marvel film. Seriously. Awesome one-liners that are well delivered and timed just right to break up even the darkest of moments. The movie is full of them, but not so full that you are like, “Please stop with the one-liners.”

6 Ideals

The movie is full of ideals and great morals. I love that even though we don’t see Agent Peggy Carter, her spirit is there and her wisdom guiding certain characters. Agent 13 has a quote in the movie that really spoke to me, but also I thought was very telling of the movie. She asked Peggy Carter once about her accomplishments.

I asked her once how she managed to master diplomacy and espionage at a time when no one wanted to see a woman succeed at either. And she said “Compromise where you can. Where you can’t, don’t. Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right. Even if the whole world is telling you to move, it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree, look them in the eye, and say ‘No, YOU move’.”

7 Motorcycle Stunts

Seriously, there are some bad-ass motorcycle stunts in this film. Between Black Window and the Winter Soldier/Bucky. Dang. Totally worth watching just for that.

8 Girl Power

Between Agent 13, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, and the ideals of Peggy Carter, there is some serious girl power in this movie. Girls can grow up to be anything they want to be.

9, 10 Mid-Credit and End-Credit Scenes

As any true Marvel Fan knows, you stay till the end. The Mid- Credit and End-Credit Scenes are Spectacular! I can’t wait until Black Panther and Spider-Man.

11 Reasons Captain America Civil War is the Best Marvel Movie

11 This is NOT the Civil War you know if you read the comic books

Even if you are a die-hard comic book reader, this movie will surprise you. As you know by now, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) uses the Marvel cannon as background and source, but does not follow it religiously. I mean, who would watch a movie going into it knowing a main character would die? Yep, not many people.

HERE’s the SPOILER in case you have no idea what’s actually going to happen and don’t know who is in Infinity War Part I and II. DON’T READ ANY FURTHER. If you DO Pay attention to the MCU, keep reading. You’ll learn nothing you didn’t already know.

The inciting incident for the movie is very different than the comic. SHIELD is the enforcer of the Superhero Registration Act, not the Secretary of State enforcing the Sokovia Accords. Hulk and Thor are absent, but for very different reasons. The movie doesn’t really have secret identities of the superheroes the way the comic does. In the comic, Zemo is a very different villain. The Raft prison exists, but it’s only for SuperVillains. Captain America’s Team is dozen large, not just Scarlet Witch, Hawk-Eye, Ant-Man, the Winter Soldier, and Falcon. IronMan’s Team is a team of reformed SuperVillains and heroes including Yellow Jacket and Mr. Fantastic. In the comics, Scarlet Witch and Hawkeye weren’t even in the conflict because of the events of Avengers: Disassembled and House of M. Black Panther didn’t join the conflict until Goliath died, and then he joined #TeamCap. Spider-Man was Team Iron Man, in the comic, but not until part way through the battle, rather than being recruited in the beginning like the movie. Black Widow realized the error of her ways and switched sides back to Team Cap part way through the battle. The comic book war had dozens of heroes and villains battling instead of the 6 v 6 that is seen in the movie.

The biggest difference between the comic and the movie is the hunt for Zemo at the end, which is a collaborative effort. And the fact that in the comic, Iron Man wins and Cap dies. That does not happen in the movie. But you already knew that if you paid any attention to what is happening in the MCU.

I was so scared about number 11, I really hoped it didn’t have the same result as the comic books. #TeamCap forever!!
