HH2013Sisters Coffee Company PortlandA few weeks ago I had the pleasure of going on a Third Wave Coffee Tour in the NW/Pearl District of Portland, OR. We walked around the Pearl District and visited six local coffee shops and learned about various coffee brewing methods as well as lots of other info about coffee and how it is grown, sourced, roasted, etc. It was super fun and I highly recommend going on one if you are in the area. Lora, who runs Third Wave Coffee Tours is amazing, fun, and extremely knowledgable. One of the locations we visited on the tour was Sisters Coffee Company.

At Sisters Coffee Company we watched Jen make coffee using the Hario v60 Pour-Over method. We samples two coffees, one Guatemalan and one Brazilian. Both were fantastic, but I preferred the Guatemalan coffee.

Sisters Coffee Company PortlandI’ve since been back to Sisters Coffee Company at 1235 NW Marshall St. in Portland twice since late November. They make a killer macchiato. One of my favorite coffees from Sisters Coffee Company is the mountain-roasted 100% Arabica coffee Black Butte Gold. This dark roasted coffee is deep and full in body and has a rich flavor.

I’m obviously not a local so I will save the giveaway for those who are, but I bought myself a Hario glass pour-over about 6 months ago and it is my absolute LOVE. I am the only coffee drinker in the house so it lets me make one cup at a time, and it lets me make GOOD coffee easily and quickly. I am a former Keurig user and there is just no comparison 😉 I also bought a Chemex drip coffee carafe for weekends when I’m likely to have more than one cup or in case someone visits. Pour-over is my fav brewing method. Just had to share hahahaha!

that’s awesome!!! I’ve used a pour-over and french press, but I hadn’t used any of the others we saw that day (including the Chemex). Wild! And fabulous coffee!

Sometime I grind the coffee, sometimes I buy ground.
And I like it black to enjoy the full flavor.
    Thank you.

I enjoy bold coffee. I usually buy beans and grind it myself, a few days worth at a time. French press is my usual way of brewing it lately, I gave my pour over away this summer and haven’t replaced it.
