how to train your dragon 2

Looking for an action-packed weekend of fun for the whole family? Head to the theatre for the premiere of How to Train Your Dragon 2! We saw an early screening of this on Tuesday night and loved it. Here’s my spoiler-free synopsis.

Five years after the plot of the first movie ends, we are brought back to the Viking island of Berk, where Hiccup and Toothless have been exploring new worlds and bringing dragons and vikings together as mutual habitants. A long-time enemy of the Chief tries to fight the Vikings of Berk and claim the dragons for evil purposes. A newly discovered Dragon Rider and secret dragon cave help the Vikings beat the enemy and restore the peaceful dragon-loving ways Berk has grown to know.

This animated movie has your typical plot twists and turns. In fact, we are introduced to some characters we didn’t know existed, and sadly say goodbye to others. Toothless the Night Fury dragon is just as cute as always and matures into a great leader.

Note of caution. This movie is rated PG. While wholly appropriate for most kids, if you have kids who are sensitive to intense fight scenes, they maybe sensitive to some of the fighting in this movie. I had one 6-year-old who was a little freaked out, while the other wasn’t bothered in the least.
