We love cherries in our house, and my husband home brews, so when we were invited to attend the Cheers for Cherries event on July 8th at Brew Brothers in Hillsboro, OR, we jumped at the chance.
In conjunction with Whole Foods Market Washington County, Brews Brothers hosted a brew workshop. The 2-hour hands-on workshop was lead by master homebrewers from Brew Brothers homebrew shop and taproom and Whole Foods Market Beer Specialist Bryan Issacson. It also included a cherry beer and cider tasting…yum! The event was timed to coincide with the 5th Annual Whole Foods Market Cherry Fest. Cherries will be $1.99/lb. (60% savings) on July 11 at Whole Foods Market.
We learned a little about the homebrew process…which I won’t go into here because the chemistry is over my head and this is a single blog post. We also learned a little about extractives and additives in the homebrew process. And we sampled some beer and cider and Washington-grown cherries!
