Jack Skellington Cookies

We love Jack Skellington. These adorable Jack Skellington Cookies are the easiest Halloween treats to make, and Jack Skellington is one of my favorite Disney Villains. Gear up for Halloween with these easy Nightmare Before Christmas cookies. These Jack Skellington Sugar Cookies are so easy your kids can make them. No Halloween party is complete without Jack Skellington Cookies! These are a perfect complement to our Sally Sugar Cookies.

Jack Skellington Cookies

Jack Skellington Cookies

Sugar Cookie Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cup of flour 
  • 1 tsp. baking soda 
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • Medium sized circle cookie cutter
  • Cookie sheet
  • Parchment paper

Icing ingredients

  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • Black gel food coloring
  • 2 disposable piping bags fitted with a number 2 tip
  • 1 squeeze bottle

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  3. Using a standing mixer, cream together the butter, powder sugar, vanilla and egg and mix until combined and creamy.
  4. Using a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar.
  5. Gradually add in the dry ingredients and mix on low speed.
  6. Using your hands, continue to mix until fully combined.
  7. Lightly flour a cutting board and knead the cookie dough a couple of times.
  8. Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick.
  9. Cut out 12 circles and place onto a cookie sheet.
  10. Bake for 8 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
  11. Repeat steps until completely out of dough.
  12. Let cookies cool completely.

Royal Icing Directions

  1. Using the standing mixer, combine the egg whites, cream of tartar, vanilla and powder sugar and mix until combined and stiff peaks form.
  2. Scoop 1 cup of icing into another bowl and mix in a few drops of black gel coloring. Add in a few more drops of black to get the shade you want.
  3. Scoop some white icing and black icing into the piping bags and set aside.
  4. Add in a few tablespoons of water into the remaining white icing and mix until combined.
  5. Pour the white icing into the squeeze bottle.
  6. Using the white piping bag, pipe an outline around the cookies.
  7. Fill in with the thinner white icing.
  8. Let cookies dry overnight.
  9. Using the black piping bag, pipe the detail of Jack Skellington’s eyes onto the cookie and fill in.
  10. Pipe a line for a smile onto the bottom part of the cookie.
  11. Pipe small lines for stitching onto the line for the smile.
  12. Let cookies dry for an hour before enjoying.

Ingredients
