STEM Summer Fun with Hexbug VEX Robotics Robotic Arm

Best Buy offers a range of tech toys that provide a fun and educational experience, and can influence how children will learn, build, and grow. With these new kids tech products and gadgets and learning apps, keeping your kids engaged couldn’t be easier. With summer upon us, what better way to keep your kids engaged than with tech toys that teach some STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) principles while you’re at it. We love “toys” that tecah.

STEM Summer Fun with Hexbug VEX Robotics Robotic Arm

Have you ever wondered how industrial robots work? You know, the kind of robots that work on assembly lines building other complex pieces of machinery? Now you can unlock the mystery behind these sophisticated robots by building a miniature robotic arm of your own! Exclusively from HEXBUG® comes the VEX® Robotics Robotic Arm, a completely functional construction kit inspired by real industrial robot arm construction set designed for kids ages 14 and up.

The VEX Robotics Robotic Arm (with 350 pieces!) kept my 13-year-old son entertained for hours this afternoon. Unlike some other building toys, this one required a bit more thought process and time to put together. This miniature robotic arm contains four points of motion, which means you can use each control knob to pick up objects with the arm’s claw.

The Robotic Arm has a knob that allows you to twist to lift objects up to 14 inches by twisting the “left” knob forward and backward. The arm also extends out to 10 inches by twisting the “right” knob forward and backward. Turning the dial on the rear of the Robotic Arm lets you pick up many small common household objects using the claw, too! The whole crane can rotate a full 360 degrees, allowing this miniature robotic arm to perform the complex actions of its real life counterpart. My surly teen son had fun playing with it, which rarely happens these days.
