Walt Disney World is full of characters. One of the most popular pastimes in the Disney Parks is to meet the Disney Characters and have a picture taken. A little bit of fun interaction and an autograph makes for some really great memories and Disney has a lot of characters to visit. You can even get reservations for character meals or fast passes to meet popular Disney characters, but there are also less known character meet and greets that are a lot of fun to spot and make a great addition to your album or autograph book. Here are my 5 favorite character meet and greets you might not know about.
Town Square Rarities
One of the great things happening this year at the Magic Kingdom is that some old friends are coming out to play in Town Square. Depending on what day of the week you visit, you may run into Friar Tuck from Robin Hood, Chicken Little, or Nick and Judy from Zootopia. the lineup of characters is subject to change, but it is always fun to see old and rare Disney characters make an appearance for some one-of-a-kind photo opportunities and rare autographs.
Wreck-it-Ralph and Vanellope
It’s not one of the most advertised meet and greets in Walt Disney World, despite the fact that these characters recently reappeared in a new movie. Ralph and Vanellope are located at the Imagination Pavilion in Epcot. This is in Future World West past the more highly publicized Character Spot where you can meet Baymax and Joy & Sadness from Inside Out. It’s worth venturing further in or taking a detour on your way to World Showcase to find these less known character meet and greets.
Edna Mode
This meet and greet might be the biggest treat. Little Edna’s big personality makes here one of the most fun side characters in Disney or Pixar history. During the temporary Municiberg overlay of Pixar Place in Hollywood Studios, there is a special meet and greet location just for her. You can also see some of her superhero costume designs on display.
Mike and Sulley
Also in Hollywood Studios, there are monsters lurking in Walt Disney Presents. This building is worth entering, even if they are only showing a preview of the next Disney movie. If you are lucky, they will be showing One Man’s Dream instead. Either way, the queue is a museum of Disney historical artifacts that is fascinating to look through. Also in this building, you have an opportunity to meet Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc!
Pocahontas
If there is a hard-to-find Disney princess it’s Pocahontas. Although most princesses pop up here and there around the parks and in character dining experiences, some are only found in one place. Meredith from Brave has a pretty impressive meet and greet location right next to the castle in the Magic Kingdom, but as tucked away as that location is, I think finding Pocahontas on Discovery Island is even more of a surprise, and she is my daughters’ favorite lucky find. This island is a good place to meet an assortment of Disney Characters in Animal Kingdom. Timon also has a new Hakuna Matata dance party here.
