Youngberg Hill 2011 Jordan Pinot Noir

Youngberg Hill 2011 Jordan Pinot Noir is produced from grapes grown on a certified organic vineyard that is located about 25 miles from the Pacific Coast in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. On the nose, this wine was full of red and black fruits such as cranberries, blackberries, plum, and red currants; with some light spice, black pepper, a hint of leather, oak, and faint smoke. On the palate, there were bright red fruits (cherry, cranberry, plum, strawberry, red currant, and dried cherries) as well as white pepper, oak, and a hint of herbaceousness and coffee. It had a nice medium mouthfeel and a long finish. It drank well right out of the bottle and even more beautifully after it opened up for a few minutes. We enjoyed it by itself and paired with our lamb shank.

The Youngberg Hill 2011 Jordan Pinot Noir would also pair well in general with red meat and game such venison.

The Willamette Valley offers cooler temperatures, longer spring and fall seasons, and unique soil. I am so fortunate to live in an area that has a perfect climate for growing my favorite red varietal, Pinot Noir,  here in the Willamette Valley. It’s like having my own little piece of Burgundy, France, in my backyard.
