Disney+ Safety Film is Inspirational

Disney+ SAFETY is an inspirational and uplifting film about the true story of two brothers and the meaning of family. If you need that feel-good movie right now, read on because you can watch it streaming on Disney+.

Disney+ Safety Film is Inspirational

SAFETY is a drama inspired by the empowering story of former Clemson University football safety Ray McElrathbey (Jay Reeves), a young man facing a series of challenging circumstances, whose dedication and persistence help him to triumph over repeated adversities.

Aided by his teammates and the Clemson community, he succeeds on the field while simultaneously raising and caring for his 11-year-old brother Fahmarr (Thaddeus J. Mixson).

Ray, the team’s safety, was his little brother’s safety, too. With a little help from his Clemson teammates, Ray ensured his brother had a safe home environment when his mother was unable to provide for him. After all, being part of a team isn’t just about the game—it’s also about being a part of a family.

However, the pressure to excel—on the field, in the classroom, and as a guardian—takes its toll on Ray.

SAFETY has a heartwarming message about the meaning of family that may leave you needing some tissues, even if football movies aren’t your normal film genre. While the protagonist is a football player, SAFETY focuses on the support of two brothers for one another when the odds are stacked against them.

SAFETY takes a few nods from classic football films like The Blind Side and Remember the Titans—ample action mixed with fun, emotion, and heartfelt lessons. From dorm room shenanigans trying to hide Fahmarr from the RA to recreating action-packed moments from the 2006 Clemson season with a stadium full of fans, director Reginald Hudlin didn’t disappoint.

While a football film wouldn’t be my first pick, a story about family often is. We need more stories of family who look out for one another no matter what. SAFETY film is inspirational and heartwarming goodness.
