We listen to a lot of Disney music in our house. Did you know my dream as a teenager was to sing in a Disney movie? Yep, it sure was. So I love to sing along to any Disney music I get. From the Little Mermaid to Frozen, I’ll sing it all, by myself or with with kids. We were excited to get the new Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection versions of Sleeping Beauty
, Mary Poppins,
and The Lion King.
The Sleeping Beauty two-disc cd set is the 55th Anniversary Collection Edition and features the original soundtrack, demos and three new lost chords recordings, as well as beautiful illustrations and conceptual art. This set was released on October 7.
The Mary Poppins two-disc cd set is the 50th Anniversary Collection Edition and features the original soundtrack, demos and new recordings, liner notes from Walt Disney Music Historian Randy Thornton, excerpts from the Story Meetings, as well as enchanting illustrations and conceptual art. This set released August 26.
The Lion King two-disc cd set is the 20th Anniversary Collection Edition and features the original award-winning classic songs and scores, never-before-released score cues by Hans Zimmer, rare never-before-heard demo recordings, liner notes from producer Don Han, and beautiful illustrations and conceptual art. This set released June 24.
While I love them all for the musicality and gorgeous illustrations, I certainly have always been a huge fan of Tim Rice’s work, so the Lion King is my favorite, if I have t pick one.
