Have you ever dreamed of writing a novel? I sure have. One of these days I might actually finish it! Anna Todd wrote After entirely on her phone as a hobby. Todd’s book is now being turned into a 4-book series by Simon & Schuster. Paramount Pictures has acquired the film rights to adapt the After story for the big screen, too!
Last spring, the 25-year-old One Direction überfan parlayed her love of reading and love of the British boy-band to write After on Wattpad, a free social reading and writing app, under the username Imaginator1D. The plot of After revolves around young Tessa (an optimistic freshman at Washington State University) and her on-again, off-again relationship with Hardin Scott, the dark, troubled British bad boy inspired by One Direction singer Harry Styles.
Every few days, Anna used the Wattpad app to publish a new installment. Her fan fiction love story grew to over 2,500 pages, and has since been viewed more than a billion times, and those views are growing.
