How to Stay Connected When Traveling

When you are traveling around the world, it’s nice to stay in touch with your family and friends. Next to that, you‘ve probably promised that you would. But how can you achieve this? Sometimes it is difficult to find the time. Additionally, it’s not always easy to start a new topic or get depth in your conversations. Think of the conversations with your family. You probably ask them often what they have done that day, and you usually get a standard answer. So what are some of the more fun and creative ways to stay connected with your family and friends?

Travelblog

When you’re traveling, you will always share the special moments such as birthdays at home, but it’s also nice to share daily moments with one another. This can be done via a travel blog. On a blog, you can share daily or weekly moments and include photos and videos. Additionally, your loved ones can respond on your posts.

Meeting up

When you’ve been traveling for a long time, it’s always great to see your loved ones in real life again. Maybe they can visit you for a mini vacation. You not only get to see each other again, you can take on the role of tour guide and show them the best places. Who knows, they might even go with you to your next destination.

Write a letter

Who doesn’t like to get a letter from somewhere far away? It’s very old fashioned (just like sending a postcard), but that also means you can really surprise everyone back home with something unexpected. Who still sends a letter nowadays? Add pictures to show the local culture or share the funny moments. Sprinkle a little perfume on the letter and they your letter will feel even more personal.

Send packages

With packages you can show the culture of the country where you are. For example: local beauty products you’ve discovered, trinkets, and other goodies or keepsakes. Keep in mind that not all things can be sent, like food items. In addition, it sometimes takes weeks for a package to arrive at its destination.

Share moments together

When you are far away from your family and friends, you don’t have joint activities together, but you can still share moments or activities, like dinner or watching television. A perfect moment to catch up! This gives you  the feeling that they are not far away and you might even forget—if only for a moment—that you are miles away.

Social media

Social media is a very easy and fast way to bring everyone up to speed. You can share your pictures, text, or check-ins via Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.

Skype or WhatsApp

Skype is a way to communicate with your family. It’s like you are all in the same room together, because you can see and hear each other. Ideal! But when you don’t have the ability to Skype, you can also use WhatsApp. Communicate at every moment you want using Skype or WhatsApp.

Phone Calls

If you are more traditional, you can always stay in touch via SMS and calling. Are you out of phone credit? Don’t worry, you can easily top up your credit online at www.recharge.com.
