In honor of Sustainability Month, I decided my Thirsty Thursday wine review should be of something local, so I picked one from Shelburne Vineyard, one of my favorite local wineries.
There isn’t a wine that Shelburne Vineyard in Vermont makes that I don’t enjoy, but the Shelburne Vineyard 2010 Lakeview White ($13) is one of my top picks. It’s a semi-dry wine make from a blend of Cayuga (65%), Chardonnay (11%), and Gewurztraminer (24%). It’s crisp and refreshing with just a hint of sweetness. It’s a perfect summer sipping wine (or porch pounder as I like to call it). This wine pairs well with Blueberry Ginger Crisp or salty hors d’oeuvres and Asian cuisine.
In addition to the fact that I love their wine and they are a local winery, Shelburne Vineyard is dedicated to using sustainable agricultural practices to produce their small craft wines. If you are looking for a great sip-able white wine, you should try the Shelburne Vineyard Lakeview White.
