It’s a Mutant Mayhem Cast Interview! I recently had the chance to talk with the stars of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film Mutant Mayhem for our podcast. TMNT Mutant Mayhem is coming to theaters August 2.

We asked Micah Abbey (Donatello), Shamon Brown Jr. (Michaelangelo), Brady Noon (Raphael), and Nicolas Cantu (Leonardo) the important questions. You know, what is their favorite thing about their characters, how familiar were they with the Turtles before making the movie, and most importantly PIZZA TOPPINGS.
Which one of the guys likes veggie pizza toppings like me, or mushrooms like Ashley? You’ll have to read on to find out. Being two geeks, we could relate to Micah sharing how much he loves Donatello’s nerdy side. An anime fan? Yes, please! I only felt a little old realizing how much they didn’t know about the classic Secret of the Ooze.
This interview happened prior to the SAF-AFTRA strike. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the movie being covered here wouldn’t exist.
What is your favorite thing about your character? And since this is the turtles, I have to know your favorite pizza topping two.
Nicolas Cantu: Yeah, I guess I’ll start. I like Leo’s discipline and his love for Ninjitsu. You know, he really takes his training seriously. And I think it’s admirable that he has that aspect of his personality and favorite pizza. I’m gonna have to go with pepperoni mushroom. I really like a pepperoni mushroom pizza.
Micah Abbey: I love about my character, how geeky and dorky he is. And he’s not afraid to be geeky and dorky. He’s, he’s on like his brother. He’s very like, nerdy about certain things in anime and stuff like that. And I love that about him. And my favorite topping. Like sometimes I like a good veggie pizza with some ranch on it. Like maybe some peppers, some mushrooms. Maybe some asparagus? I don’t know. I don’t know. Maybe we’re getting crazy. A lot of vegetables. Yeah.
Brady Noon: For me, I think I really do admire Raphael’s loyalty. I really think that no matter what goes on, he’s always got his brothers’ back. So I really do appreciate that and admire that from Raph. If I had to go I mean, I’m a classic guy. It’s either pepperoni for me or actually, I eat a lot of chicken parm pizza, which a lot of people haven’t heard of, but it’s just chicken parm on pizza like cut up so it’s it’s actually pretty good. Crazy.
Shamon Brown Jr.: Yeah, what I love about Mikey is his love for all living and nonliving things and his curiosity for the world, you know, outside of the sewer. And a favorite pizza topping. I’d probably say like sausage and applewood smoked bacon. Okay, and that’s very important to be applewood smoked. For sure.
So I’m here for the full vegetable pizza. I’m pretty sure I saw Ashley gagging when you were describing all the toppings like
Brady Noon: a lot of I was too I was.
Were you guys fans of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before getting cast? Or have you said sort of immersed yourself in the original shows, comics, and games and whatnot?
Brady Noon: I think we all kind of had an understanding of these turtles. We grew up on 2012 series, I think, a little bit of mica too. But I mean, we’re all pretty familiar with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in some way, shape, or form coming into this. So that was definitely a big help.
Nicolas Cantu: Yeah, I haven’t actually watched any of the series or movies up to this point. But of course, I’m familiar with the turtles, everybody knows who they are. Like, they’re iconic. They’re these big monoliths of pop culture. So to be able to join a long-standing franchise like this. It’s really cool man and I feel very lucky to be a Blue Team Leader.

Along with their new friend, April O’Neil, they team up to take on a mysterious crime syndicate. However, they are in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed.
