The blade is really sharp…honestly the packaging could have been better/easier to open, as I had to be extremely careful opening the package to get the knife out because the knife was in the open position in the package.
The 2.5 inch blade is a ½ serrated high-carbon stainless steel drop point blade, which is great for long-term sharp edge retention and activities like cutting rope. The knife includes a nail nick in the blade for easy opening. There’s also a lock back to securely lock the blade in place while in use and maximize safety when closing. The Bear Grylls Gerber Compact Scout Knife also features an oversized finger notch in the handle to minimize slipping during use. The knife is 5.8 inches long when open and 3.3 inches when closed, and weighs just less than an ounce. The lifetime warranty makes this $18 knife a bargain.
