The David Hill Vineyard 2012 Estate Pinot Noir was made from grapes grown on their Estate Vineyard in Forest Grove, Oregon, in the Willamette Valley AVA. David Hill Vineyard has about 150 acres with 43 acres of vines. This Pinot Noir is made from a blend of young and mature vines, as well as a select portion of their older vines. The oak seasoning and balanced fruit give this Pinot Noir its structure and depth. The wine is aged in 60 and 132 gallon French oak barrels for 18 months, something not very common in the Willamette Valley. It’s a beautiful Pinot Noir with cherries and bright cherry pie on the nose. On the palate we got cherries, cranberries, and a hint of sandalwood. It had a nice mouthfeel and medium-long finish. It paired beautifully with a pork loin chop entree.
