100% beyond a shadow of a doubt the best investment we have made to date. Period. Full stop.
Whether you are at a campsite or parked at a family member's house, this device protects your camper from damage from a variety of electrical issues you won't know about until it's too late and you have ruined your RV's electrical system.
- The Surge Guard provides protection against open ground, open neutral, reverse polarity, miswired pedestal, low and high frequency, plus low and high voltage, as well as continued protection against low and high voltage and low and high frequency. The monitor on the front shows you what is happening, what your voltage, errors, etc.
- This particular brand is the only Electrical Protection System to offer load side protection against elevated ground line current inside the RV and they offer a Lifetime Warranty with Connected Equipment Coverage.
If you ever plan to plug in to charge at a house or use power at a house, you need a dogbone. We have a 30A camper, but if you have a bigger RV (some are 50A) you'll need to make sure you have the right connection. These aren't universal but they are necessary and relatively inexpensive. We also have a 30A to 50A for the rare occasion we are at a campground that only offers 50A power supply hook-ups.
If you think you'll need an extension cord, it's always best to have one that is rated for the amps you plan to draw. This is a great option for a 30A, 120-volt extension cord for your RV.
It's not 100% essential but it's a great add-on if you might need an extension cord.
A water pressure regulator is a MUST-HAVE for your RV. It's affordable, small, easy to use, and will prevent damage from unregulated water pressure at campgrounds and other places you might connect to. You can get a fancier one with a gauge on it, but that isn't necessary.
Some people will argue that a water filter is purely for taste, but I will argue it is essential. Get yourself a water filter like this Camco RV Water Filter that filters out bacteria--it's not just your basic kitchen pitcher filter.
- This filter can be attached to any standard water hose to provide healthier drinking water and cleaner water overall. The Granular Activated Carbon filtration greatly reduces bad taste, odor, chlorine, and sediment and the premium KDF provides protection against bacteria growth while filter is stored or not in use.
You wouldn't skip fire extinguishers in your regular home, so you certainly don't skip them in your home-away-from-home, either.
Suitable for use on Class B (liquids & gases) and Class C fires (energized electrical equipment), the Mariner 5 unit is fitted with a pressure gauge that provides at-a-glance status, is manufactured from lightweight aluminum and a tough aluminum valve assembly. Includes plastic strap bracket (322057).
I feel like Command Hooks is all we need to say here, but these are such a useful item. Stick them basically anywhere. They hold well, they don't ruin your surface, instant coat hanger, towel hanger, photo hanger, you name it.
Command Hooks let you add extra storage without adding weight or bulk your tiniest of tiny homes/RV.
If you like to read at night, a light like this is a great addition. Easy to charge, lightweight, no batteries required, and perfect for those off-grid nights so you aren't draining precious marine battery power. We have one at each end of the RV for night-time reading. They also work great for lighting during Zoom calls.
A good water bottle is a must. My Bougie Bottle fits in most car cup holders promoting safe driving and eliminates the need to unscrew the cap, making it the perfect hydration companion at the end of that killer workout, or sweltering day by the pool, or enduring a chaotic afternoon commute. The beautiful design will transport you to the tropics as you taste your refreshing beverage.
