How to Use FuelRod Chargers at Disney
FuelRods are a reusable, portable charging system that allows you to charge your portable device on the go, and then swap the FuelRod out for a fresh one at one of their locations. Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort are both FuelRod locations.
FuelRods are Now Available at Amazon, too!
That’s right. FuelRod has an Amazon Store. You can grab your FuelRod on Amazon BEFORE your trip and do your swapping on the go, but that way you have your FuelRod with you all ready to go if you need it in the airport or on the plane!
How much is a FuelRod?
FuelRods are $22–$30, depending on the location. Your FuelRod kit comes with a portable charger and an adapter for Android or Apple and the adapters are yours to keep.
How to get the FuelRod Founders Membership
FuelRod charges for swaps in some locations. If you purchased a FuelRod before November 2019, you are eligible to join the Founders Membership. This gives you the ability to swap chargers without a swap fee.
How long does a FuelRod last?
On average, the FuelRod gives you up to an additional 8 hours of charge on a cell phone and up to 4 hours for a tablet. Also, FuelRods are rechargeable, just like any other USB-powered battery backup charger.
You can plug the charger into a power source or wall outlet and recharge it over and over at home between you swap it out at a FuelRod SwapBox location.
How to Use FuelRod at Disney
Using FuelRod at Disney is easy. You locate a FuelRod SwapBox (pro tip: the closest one to the park entrance is usually in the locker rental area), insert your depleted FuelRod, and get a new fresh, fully charged FuelRod, and you go on about your photos and videos for the day.
FuelRod Locations
There are hundreds of FuelRod locations all over the country. Within the FuelRod app, you can search for locations. In the Disneyland App, you can search “FuelRod” you can find the locations available within Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
We frequent Disney Parks and Resorts and that is one of the places we find that we can easily swap a Fuel Rod (and a place where we NEED to swap a FuelRod because we constantly are using our FuelRods to recharge our phones). Just think of all the photos you are taking at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge!
