Inventing Anna on Netflix
“Fake it til you make it,” is the old adage. In Anna Sorkin’s case, it was more like fake it until you get caught. In 2019, Sorkin (aka Anna Delvey) was sentenced to 12 years in prison for grand larceny and other charges.
The Russian-born Sorkin moved to Germany and then later to Paris, where she started using the name Delvey and claimed to be a German heiress. With all over her scamming of hotel rooms, chartered jets, and other activities over the course of 10 months, she racked up about $275,000 in stolen goods and services.
Netflix’s “Inventing Anna” follows a journalist with a lot to prove who investigates the case of Anna Delvey.
