Have you ever watched a movie and been so completely enamored with the story, scenery, and characters that you simply didn’t want it to be over? Have you ever watched a movie that took you so completely to another place that you nearly or completely forgot you were watching a movie? That’s how I feel every time I watch Disney’s The Jungle Book live-action movie, now available on DVD/Blu-ray.
The movie is based on Rudyard Kipling’s story, but is not simply a remake of the 1968 animated classic we know and love. This is a reimagined, reinvented story. After a threat from Shere Khan, the man-cub Mowgli flees the jungle. Mowgli is guided by the panther, Bagheera, and the bear, Baloo, as he embarks on a journey of self-discovery. On his journey, he meets plenty of creatures who don’t have his best interests at heart.
The story is beautiful and the CGI is stunning. Director Jon Favreau has outdone himself. One of the things I love about buying the DVD/Blu-ray is being able to see the bonus features and interviews that are exclusive to the set. The Bonus content for The Jungle Book is excellent. I love being able to see the behind-the-scenes to the movie. It’s an excellent complement to the interview I just did with Visucal Effects Supervisor Rob Legato and Producer Brigham Taylor. Here are some fun interview clips with some of the talent! Grab a copy today
