As a CK Mondavi Ambassador, I’ll be sharing wine and food ideas with you over the coming months. As always, all opinions are my own. #CKMondaviWines #CKMondaviAmbassador #CKMondaviandFamily #CKSummerWines #SummerBurgers
With summer comes the desire to grill. My family loves burgers, me, I’m lukewarm. I’m not a beef eater, but I LOVE other types of meat, like lamb. For July 4th weekend, we grilled up some incredibly flavorful Mediterranean Spicy Lamb Burgers, which we paired with CK Mondavi and Family’s 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon. It seemed only fitting to pair a CK Mondavi and Family wine in honor of Marc Mondavi’s birthday (July 4th).
Mediterranean Spicy Lamb Burgers
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp. fresh cilantro, chopped plus a few sprigs
- 2 tbsp. fresh oregano, chopped
- 1 tbsp. garlic, chopped
- 4 oz. feta cheese
- Tzatziki sauce
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Preheat grill for medium-high heat.
- In a large bowl, mix the ground lamb, mint, cilantro, oregano, garlic, sherry, white wine vinegar, and molasses until well mixed. Add the cumin, allspice, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper to season. Mix well. Make 4 burger patties with lamb mix.
- Brush the grill gate with a touch of extra virgin olive oil. Place patties on the oiled grill grate. Grill burgers on each side for about 5 minutes or until medium well done. Serve on rolls with feta cheese and Tzatziki sauce and a few sprigs of cilantro.
We paired the Mediterranean Spicy Lamb Burgers with the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, a smooth, rich, and velvety that’s great for any picnic. The cherry and blackberry were a perfect compliment to the savory rich Mediterranean flavors of the lamb burgers.
New CK Mondavi and Family Label Design
Have you seen the new CK Mondavi and Family label design that launched in June? The new brand identity and new packaging gives a nod to the Mondavi family heritage and tradition while bringing a new modern hand-crafted style to the label. It was the dream of Cesare and Rosa Mondavi to offer wine to your family at a low price, and now the 4th generation of Mondavis are involved in the winery winemaking. CK Mondavi and Family wines are the first and only wines to be 100% “Made in USA Certified®,” something the family is committed to and proud of. In fact, CK Mondavi and Family sources only California grown fruit and a large portion of the grapes in CK Mondavi wines are estate-grown on the family’s 1,850 acres of vineyards. The family decided to highlight this USA Certified accolade on the new back label.
CK Mondavi is doing summer in-store promotions for burgers, buns, cheese, and charcoal. Look for in-store promotions wherever you can find CK Mondavi and Family wines.

I love Greek food, and this has a Greek flair to it. I dont eat much mutton unless it is in a Greek place although we have Middle Eastern places here that serve great gyros.( Oddly the Middle Eastern serve gyros sans feta where the Greeks have feta) I would probably like this I am a sucker for feta!
My dad would definitely appreciate these lamb burgers. hmm juicy patties.
