My Motherhood Experience, In A Show

Mom life. We all know that some days as a mom are better than other days. Right? I mean, some days we’re so sleep-deprived that we try to make a cup of coffee and forget to put the coffee mug under the dispenser and end up with coffee all of the kitchen floor and counter.

My Motherhood Experience, In A Show

Louis CK and Pamela Adlon’s comedy series Better Things on FX on Thursdays at 10 pm resonates with my life like no one’s business. I’m a mom of four kids and business owner. I juggle a million roles as a mom and business owner. Paperwork pusher, taxi driver, babysitter, play date coordinator, chef, housekeeper, the list goes on. Thank goodness I have a great support system.

My Motherhood Experience, In A Show

Honestly, I can just take all else out of the equation and simply focus on being a mom of four to see how the show resonates with being a busy mom. At one point, I had four kids ages 4 years old and under. I don’t even remember how I survived that first year when my twins were born. Being a mom can be overwhelming. In the last 13 years, I can think of plenty of times when I’ve been more than a touch overwhelmed and felt like anything but the perfect parent. The premiere of Better Things on FX reminded me just how imperfect I am and that is okay! That coffee that never made it in a mug? Yeah, that’s happened more than a few times over the years. Arguing with my kids over basically nothing? Seems like that happens more days than I care to admit.

i think one of my worse days was when my son was 16 months old,,he is now 42,,i was 19,we lived in a tiny trailor and back then there wasnt cell phones,my phone was in the kitchen and wasnt cordless either it was a rotary dial,,,i was giving him a bath,,we were trying to get ready for a doctors appointment,,the phone rang ,i left him in just a tiny amount of water,,yes i know now how stupid that was ,,i answered the phone and said id call them back and ran back to the bathroom,,and he was just splashing and having a great time with some little brown balls,,at first i laughed because it was so cute ,then it dawned on me that i had not put any toys in the tub with him,,it was hard tiny little turds! omg,,,i snatched him out ,gagging and trying not to throw up,,had to drain the tub get the fly swat to fish out the turds,,clean the tub and regive him a bath,,he was my first child and i was so clueless,,,,i had never even changed a diaper until he was born,,,and there wasnt any hand santiizers back then in 1975 it was so gross,,,,but rememberable,,i love telling his 3 sons about Daddy’s bathtub balls,,,vlbelk@hotmail.com

I’m not a parent, so I haven’t experienced a less than perfect day in the life of parenthood

I’m also not a parent, but saw plenty of less-than-perfect parenting moments at target today! 🙂

I’m not a parent but I’ve had many less than perfect days where I felt stressed and overwhelmed.
