I’m not a fan of resolutions. I try to live my life in a way that is meaningful, productive, and makes me a better person. If I want a challenge, I’ll pick one and stick to it. I don’t need an imaginary goal to make me do something.
My 2013 Bucket List seemed like a fun idea: things I’d like to do this year. Let’s start with the low-hanging fruit.
Get a promotion. A well-deserved and long-overdue promotion. Technically, I got one in October. Officially, the title change doesn’t go in to effect until February. I should be able to check this one off the list soon.
Visit Afghanistan. I know, most of you are like WTF? I went to Afghanistan for work in the summer of 2011 and truly enjoyed the experience. If the stars align at work, I’ll get to go back this spring for a couple of weeks. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to experience the culture and capture some moving imagery.
Visit Napa or Sonoma Wine Country. This one will happen this spring, as well. Thank you Thirsty Girl for the opportunity to win a contest to tour some of California’s wine country. I’m beyond elated. Talk about starting the year with a bang!
What else?
Get my gecko touched up. I have an awesome gecko tattoo on my toe. It’s in desperate need of a touch up. For some reason, I keep putting off getting it done. It was painful, but that can’t be the reason. Heck, I’ve given birth to 4 kids without an epidural or any other pain meds. I can totally handle the touch up. I must just be lazy. It’s not really important in the scheme of things.
Drink more wine. I need to step out of my comfort zone and try some new stuff. I do try new wines fairly regularly, but I get into ruts with the good old favorites. I didn’t get my WEST Level 2 Certification for nothing. I want to drink less of my go-to wines and more new wines this year.
Make every moment count. We all know life is short. I want to make sure that I enjoy life and family and friends.
