Upon receipt, my first impression was how classic and well put together the packaging was. Carefully folded in a subtle beige pinstripe paper, the Chickadee Threads doesn’t cut corners and takes the time to ensure the product is neat, clean, and in giftable condition. Affixed is a small thank you/business card giving the end receiver that extra personal touch, which many consumers, including myself, appreciate. A riveted, thick card stock hang tag helps to give the product a high-end, boutique style, upscale feel to the product line; something consumers look for in a box-store dominated society.
The teal body suit with navy blue elephant print is completely gender neutral, making it a great choice for both baby showers and gift giving. The 100% organic cotton body suit is dyed and printed with earth friendly dyes and inks, so it’s a gift you can feel comfortable giving to friends and family. Free of caustic and toxic chemicals—an environmentally and socially conscious product. The initial product offering is small but has enough of a variety you can easily find something perfect for any child 2 and under. Another big win for me is the printed tag. Stitched tags always irritate my little one’s neckline so I look for products with out stitched tags.
While the sizes currently only go to 18–24 months, the cut is such that the fabric has some give. Adding a snap extender could definitely allow for several more months of wear, and this body suit can undoubtably withstand the extra wear and tear. I am incredibly impressed with how well the 100% organic cotton held up. Hot water didn’t shrink it, the dryer didn’t shrink it, and after 15 or 20 non-gentle washings and being tumbled dry with shoes, jeans, and even some items with Velcro, both the fabric and the printed design have held up far better than any of the competing organic clothing company fabrics I’ve used so far.
