Pokémon Go just announced that Swablu, the Cotton Bird Pokémon will be the Pokémon for this May’s Community Day and Mega Altaria will be appearing afterward!

What is Pokémon Go Community Day?
During a 6-hour event, a single Pokémon is chosen and its abilities and other forms are celebrated. Every Trainer looks forward to the monthly Pokémon Go Community Day event, where the specially designated Pokémon—often a rare or uncommon spawn—shows up in the wild with an increased spawn rate.
During Community Day, Pokémon spawn throughout the world allowing trainers to catch them more easily with an increased chance of the Pokémon being a Shiny version. If the trainer evolves the Pokémon into its final form, the Pokémon learns an exclusive move it would otherwise be unable to learn. These moves are typically better than the Pokémon’s original moveset, giving it a greater advantage during raid battles and against other players.
Features During Pokémon Go May 2021 Community Day
Here’s what to expect during Pokémon Go Community Day May 2021:
- Swablu is the special Community Day Pokémon and will be appearing more frequently in the wild. If you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny one!
- Evolve Swablu during the event or up to 2 hours afterward to get an Altaria that knows the attack Moonblast
- Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise!
- There’ll be a special one-time-purchase Community Day Box available for 1,280 PokéCoins (the special Community Box includes 50 Ultra Balls, 5 Super Incubators, 5 Incense, and 1 Elite Fast TM)
- If you’re into spending real money in-app, for US $1 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to access the Swablu Community Day-exclusive Special Research story, Cotton-Winged Bird.
- Watch for when tickets for the Cotton-Winged Bird Special Research story go live! Tickets are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service). This Special Research will not include an in-game medal.
Bonuses During Pokémon Go May 2021 Community Day
- 1/4 Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator during the 6-hour event period
- Incense activated during the event will last for 3 hours
About the Mega Altaria Pokémon GO Debut
Mega Altaria will be making its Pokémon GO debut in Mega Raids at the conclusion of May Community Day on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. local time. This is your chance to collect Mega Altaria Energy to Mega-Evolve any of the Altaria you’ve collected during the event!
