“Portland loves WICKED! It is the type of show that audiences love to see again and again. It’s also the type of show that will bring new people of all ages to the theater each and every time it plays. The thrill of introducing new audiences to the magic of theater may be the most rewarding part of presenting a show like WICKED,” stated Portland Opera General Director, Christopher Mattaliano.

Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the Land of Oz. One—born with emerald-green skin—is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, and how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.
