If you’re a fan of Cirque du Soleil shows, their newest touring show, Cirque du Soleil CRYSTAL, is in Portland at the Moda center through April 8th. While I’ve seen 9 shows with KURIOS being my last, my family saw CRYSTAL this week. Thanks to Allied for hosting them for a media preview of the show.
While this is the first Cirque du Soleil show on ice, it’s not a Disney on Ice style show. It’s still very much the ariels and acrobatics style melange of acts you expect from a Cirque show, but on ice.
Crystal, the lead character, is a young girl with a vivid imagination. My family felt this show was a bit darker than some of the previous shows we’ve seen, but good nonetheless. The show opens with Crystal skating on a smooth lake, and the next thing you know she’s fallen through, and the rest of the show is Crystal’s vivid creations of what lies beneath the water’s surface as she reflects on her life.
Cirque du Soleil CRYSTAL is at Moda Center through April 8th. Tickets are still available online.
