Disney Tsum Tsum

We recently visited Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Parks. We had a chance to use the Disney MaxPass so we could get all the details and update this post with how the Disney MaxPass works, and we’ll never do Disneyland without it! We wanted to see how to use the Disneyland MaxPass at Disney.

Thanks to Disney Parks for providing us two park hopper passes. for a day of fun. As always, all opinions are our own. This post contains affiliate links.

In the 13 hours we were at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Parks, we were able to ride Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission Breakout twice times, Radiator Springs Racers twice, the IncrediCoaster four times, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, Haunted Mansion twice, Star Tours, Buzz Light Year Astro Blasters three times, and a slew of other rides that didn’t require FASTPASS reservations.

Not bad for a day at the parks, considering we went back and forth between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park twice each on a holiday weekend.

For just $15 per person, the new Disney MaxPass is by far one of the best Disney Parks perks out there.

You get Disney PhotoPass photos and Digital FASTPASS selections for FASTPASS rides. Here’s the scoop on how MaxPass works at Disneyland. It was worth the splurge for the extra $15 each to check out the MaxPass and how it works.

How does the Disney MaxPass work?

Currently, the Disney MaxPass service is $20 per person per day, and that includes use of the Park Hopper ticket option.

You can add the Disney MaxPass to your digital ticket in the Disneyland app by using the Disney MaxPass feature within the Disneyland app.

You can reserve your digital Disney FASTPASS selections right from your phone using the Disneyland app while in the parks.

By using this option, you eliminate the paper FASTPASS option and the need to stop by the kiosks to get a new FASTPASS entitlement each time. When your return time comes, you scan your code on your phone at the ride entrance.

What are the benefits of the Disney MaxPass?

The Disney MaxPass combines two of the parks’ popular services to make the most of your Disneyland experience. You get unlimited Disney PhotoPass downloads for the day, so you can share your photo memories with friends and families by accessing your photos from select attractions as well as any photos taken by photographers at Character dining experiences and by PhotoPass photographers.

And you get digital Disney FASTPASS selections, saving you time in the parks maximizing your time and pixie dust fun.

Our family loves the photos that the Disney PhotoPass photographers take, so this is a great perk, especially if you aren’t an annual pass holder.

Does everyone in my party need a Disney MaxPass?

Yes, in order to use the FASTPASS service, everyone in your party needs a Disney MaxPass.

How to Use Disney MaxPass at Disneyland

Add your Disneyland tickets to the Disneyland app to buy your Disney MaxPass and make your FASTPASS selections.

Do I need to download the Disneyland App to use the Disney MaxPass?

Yes. In order to use the new Disney MaxPass, you need to download the Disneyland app onto your phone or mobile device and create an account (or sign in if you already have one).

Choose the park you wish to enter and tap “Get FASTPASS.” Select the guests who wish to use the Disney MaxPass feature for the day (if someone is not listed, link their ticket or pass so you can add them).

Purchase the Disney MaxPass feature for anyone who does not already have it. Make your FASTPASS selections. Don’t forget to download your Disney PhotoPass images, too!

Using the Disneyland App is easy and saves time. In addition to the fact that you use it for the Disney MaxPass, it’s easy to navigate your way through the parks, check wait times for rides, and make dining reservations, too.

Everything you need at your fingertips.

How do I use the Digital Disney FASTPASS with the Disney MaxPass?

In order to make a FASTPASS selection for one of 16 attractions with the Disney MaxPass (if they are available), these are the steps you take:

In the Disneyland app, tap “Get FASTPASS” to make your FASTPASS selection and receive your Return-Time window.

When it’s time to come back to enjoy the attraction you’ve chosen, go to the “FASTPASS Return Entrance” at the attraction and hold your phone or mobile device up to the scanner so it can scan your FASTPASS code.

What happens if my Disney MaxPass plans change?

Changes your plans? No problem! You can easily and quickly change or cancel your FASTPASS selection on the “My Plans” screen within the Disneyland app.

Can you use the digital Disney FASTPASS and Disney MaxPass in conjunction with the Disability Services Access?

At the time of this article, you can use you both. If you have a child or other person in your party eligible to use the Disability Services Access (DAS), you can use it in conjunction with the Disney MaxPass system.

When your tickets are linked on the Disneyland app, you can see all of your available selections available in your app.

Can you use the Disney MaxPass if you are an Annual Passholder?

Bring on the Pixie Dust! Disneyland Annual Passholders may purchase the Disney MaxPass feature as a daily add-on for $10 through the Disneyland app the same as regular ticketed guests or they may choose to purchase it as an annual add-on for $75 at any Disneyland Resort Ticket Booth.

The Disney MaxPass feature is an included benefit with the purchase of a Disney Signature Plus Passport or the Disney Premier Passport.

Pro Tips for the Disney MaxPass

Disneyland highly suggests that guests check the day’s FASTPASS ticket availability and other park details before they purchase the Disney MaxPass feature or before using a park ticket with Disney MaxPass.

Because of the popularity of some of the attractions, FASTPASS tickets may not be available at the time of Disney MaxPass purchase.

FASTPASS tickets are limited and availability is not guaranteed. Make sure to check out the Disneyland website for full terms and details. Please keep in mind FASTPASS availability is limited and not guaranteed.

What is the Disneyland app you are using. I don’t seem to be finding one such as you described.

It’s the Disneyland app by Disney. Gives you access to park hours, ride wait times, dining, and such. I’ll grab the link and add it.

Do you buy the MaxPass when you enter the park or can you pre purchase? How do you check the fastpass availability?

You can look at the availability on the Disneyland app and you can buy the MaxPass anytime you are in the park, also on the app. No tie restriction, but obviously the earlier in the day you buy it, the better use you make of the purchase.

How long do you have to download the Photos? Also, do the PhotoPass photographers scan your phone or park ticket? Thank you for this article. Our next trip we will be using MaxPass for the first time. 🙂

Photo expiration is based on the PhotoPass expiration policy, found here:

      https://disneyland.disney.go.com/photopass-expiration-policy/

Essentially, the policy is 45 days from the date taken, unless you are an Annual Passholder.

And yes, they can scan your phone or a ticket and then you link that ticket/code to your app on the phone.
